CFP: Special Issue “Affect and Intermediality”
May 25, 2026On behalf of the International Society for Intermedial Studies (ISIM), it was a great pleasure to meet many of you last week at the conference in Brussels.
We would once again like to extend our sincere thanks to the organisers at CLIC for a highly successful conference, and to all participants for their inspiring and stimulating presentations, which clearly demonstrated the vitality and productivity of intermedial perspectives.
For those of you who were unable to attend the General Assembly at the end of the conference, please find below a brief summary of the main points discussed:
- The acronym of the International Society for Intermedial Studies has been officially changed to ISIM. The website and email address will be updated accordingly in the near future.
- A reminder that we warmly welcome updates on recent publications, upcoming calls for contributions, and forthcoming (hybrid) events. One of the society’s core aims is to serve as a hub connecting intermedial researchers and research environments.
- The next meeting of the online network meeting International Meeting of Intermedial Research (IMoRI) will be organised by CRIalt (Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur l’intermédialité, arts, littératures et technologies) in Montreal and will take place on 4–5 November 2027. Contact: Jean-Marc Larue jean-marc.larrue@umontreal.ca
- We discussed the possibility of organising a PhD Day, which would provide doctoral students with an opportunity to present their projects and network with peers.
- The 9th ISIM conference will take place in 2028 in the north of Brazil, organised by Intermídia: Estudos sobre a Intermidialidade. Contact: Miriam Vieira miriamvieira@gmail.com and Ana Munari ana.c.munari@gmail.com
Thank you once again for your engagement and contributions to the field. We look forward to staying in touch and to seeing many of you at future events.
With best wishes,
The ISIM Board
