Lars Elleström wrote and edited several books, including "Divine Madness: On
Interpreting Literature, Music, and the Visual Arts Ironically" (Bucknell University Press, 2002), "Media Borders, Multimodality and Intermediality" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010) and "Media Transformation: The Transfer of Media Characteristics Among Media" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014). He also published the books "Transmedial Narration: Narratives and Stories in Different Media" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019) and "Beyond Media Borders: Intermedial Relations among Multimodal Media", Volume 1 & 2 (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020). In addition, he had also published numerous articles on poetry, gender, irony, semiotics, and in particular intermediality. Parts of his work have been translated to numerous different languages.

Open Lecture Series: Meeting Media Minds – Critical Legacies of Lars Elleström
Following Lars Elleström's death in December 2021, Linnaeus Univeristy Center for Intermedial and Multimodal Studies launched a series of online lectures with international scholars to commemorate his work. The invited speakers have been asked to talk about and discuss one of Lars Elleström’s concepts in relation to their own work. The lectures will further include a consideration of how the concept can be used and developed in future research and an open discussion.
